Sunday Times: Buying Advice
from The Sunday Times, 16 February, 1997
If you are buying second-hand timeshare holiday weeks:
- Haggle over the price. If the owner is desperate to sell you may pay as little as 10% of the original
value.
- Some timeshares are more upmarket than others. Get some idea of the range available before committing
yourself. Some owners will let you rent the unit out before you buy it.
- If you buy through a reputable agency or through the resort you will avoid problems with the title
transfer.
- Do not buy a new timeshare on the understanding that your old one will be sold in the next few weeks. The
resale may never happen.
